Admission

Admission Process


APPLICATION MATERIALS, PAPERWORK, AND FEES

  • The age requirement for admission is:  Pre-kindergarten - must be 4 years old by September 1 of the year they begin. Kindergarten - must be 5 years old by September 1 of the year they begin.
  • Application for Admission (see related file link)
  • $75.00 non-refundable application fee (payable to Manzano Day School)
  • Parent questionnaire (see related file link)
  • Copy of Birth Certificate (must be received before observation/testing day)
  • Authority to Release Records form - Deliver to your child’s current school.
  • Teacher Evaluation Form - Deliver to your child’s current classroom teacher.  If you download the form from our website, please note there are two different forms depending on current grade of your child.


TESTING

Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten:  

  • Saturday observation visit.  These are held on specific Saturdays with two different times available each Saturday.  The Admission Office will contact you about the dates and times available.
  • McCarthy Test:  This is a one-on-one test that takes approximately 40 minutes.  This testing date is arranged on the observation day.

First – fifth grade:

  • Full day classroom visitation (8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.).  During the visitation, the child  is evaluated/tested in math and reading. 

FINANCIAL AID

If you are applying for Financial Aid, you will need to contact the Admission Office after October to obtain the necessary forms.  The financial aid process includes the completion of a Parent Financial Statement, a copy of your previous year 1040 with all schedules and a copy of your W-2.

 

ADMISSION DECISION

A completed admission file consists of: application, application fee, parent questionnaire, copy of applicant’s birth certificate, school transcripts, teacher evaluation observation/ visitation evaluation, and completed testing. Only completed files go to the Admission committee for admission consideration.  No admission decision can be made prior to the completion of the application process.  Decisions are mailed to the family.
