I hope everyone had fun over the holidays. We did!
As of January 6, 2018 we have submitted a total of 10,149 boxtops with about 8 (total) that cannot be attributed to any particular classroom. The top 5 classroom leaders are:
Ms Craft with 1,364 box tops
Ms Junick with 912 box tops
Ms Hausenfleck with 880 box tops
Ms Kimbrough with 850 box tops
Ms Ortega with 697 box tops
I just checked with the Box Tops For Education website and as of January 6, 2018 a check was issued to Manzano on December 28, 2017 in the amount of $804.60 with an unpaid balance of $3.40. This is consistent with what has been submitted by the November 1, 2017 deadline. In addition to the box tops that I mailed in last Saturday (1,040 box tops), there were an additional 1,233 box tops submitted (back in November) for which we have yet to receive credit. This is likely due to the Box Tops For Education website crediting school accounts and disbursing checks for all of the November 1st submissions. I have an email in to the website to verify this.
Now - for a couple of important upcoming dates. Box tops season ends on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. The last day that I will collect box tops is the preceding Friday, February 23. This will allow me time to review the most recent submissions, package them, and send them in for credit. Box tops submitted to me after that date will be bagged and returned to the classroom to be saved for box tops season the following year, which begins in September, 2018. This brings up another topic that I will again mention in subsequent updates. Box tops can and should be collected all year round. Doing so will allow Manzano Day School to get "a head start" on box top season when it rolls around again next year. Although the box tops "campaign" will be over, parents should try and save them through next fall. This could potentially double the boxtops submissions for any given year!
On a final note, periodically the Box Tops For Education website holds "drawings" or "sweepstakes" of a sort. The current prize is 5,000 Bonus Box Tops for the school. I do enter these. After all, you can't win if you don't enter!
