Service Learning

Lorem Ipsum Dolor

Service learning projects instill a sense of civic responsibility while helping our community partners reach their organizational goals. Manzano Day School has a strong commitment for supporting community activities that impact life outside of our school setting. It is through these meaningful partnerships that students model and develop community-based learning skills such as cooperation, caring, generosity, and concern for others.

While these activities vary according to grade levels, the emphasis of our service learning projects is placed upon active student participation in planning and executing the activity. Recent project partnerships include:

  • PreK and Kindergarten - MDS campus cleanup
  • First Grade - Animal Humane of NM
  • Second Grade - Saranam
  • Third Grade - Barelas Senior Center
  • Fourth Grade - Roadrunner Food Bank
  • Fifth Grade - Locker 505

In addition to these grade-level projects, our students have performed at Noonday Ministries, hospitals, nursing homes, and other community functions, as invited, to further their role in serving our larger community. Manzano Day School was recognized by Mayor Chavez and the city of Albuquerque for its commitment to community service in 2009.
