A healthy child is a joyful learner. The primary responsibility of the Nurse’s Office at Manzano Day School is keeping our students healthy while at school. One of our school nurses, Kim Federici, RN and Julia McCord, CNP, is available every day to students during school hours. Additionally they contribute a weekly article on health and wellness to the Friday Bulletin. Students also receive classroom education presented by our nurses on topics such as the importance of hand washing, proper nutrition and dental health.
To maintain a healthy campus we ask that all sick children be kept at home. This includes children who have vomited or have had diarrhea within the last 24 hours or who have run a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher within the last 24 hours. Also, if your child has been diagnosed with a contagious illness, such as COVID, strep throat or pink eye, please contact the Nurse’s Office, even though you will be keeping your child at home.
If your child needs to take medication while at school, please complete the Manzano Day School Authorization to Administer Medication form and return it to the Nurse’s Office. This gives the school nurse permission to properly administer your child’s medication during school hours.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s health, please feel free to contact the Nurse’s Office at 505-243-6659 ext. 213 or via email at nurse@manzanodayschool.org.
