Please talk to your friends, family and co-workers about Manzano Day School. Bring up Manzano Day School to them, and tell them what you love about it. The vast majority of new families at our school each year come through referrals from our current parents. Please email Karroll in the admission office at kcbauer@manzanodayschool.org

We live very busy lives, and thus, we may be sleep deprived. A block of at least ten hours of uninterrupted sleep is KEY to good health for all of us, especially children. School-age children need at least ten hours of sleep a night, and oftentimes more. Having good quality sleep significantly effects concentration, attention, behavior, ability to cope, and mood. Studies show that as many as 40% of children do not receive adequate sleep. Several studies report the more total sleep time your child gets, with earlier bedtimes and earlier week-day rise times, the better grades your child will likely receive in school. Even as few as 20 minutes can make a difference. The best way to ensure that your child is getting enough sleep is to establish an appropriate bedtime for your child’s age and activity level. Establish bedtime routines (snack, brush teeth, read a book and lights out). Limit television, computer time, and video games prior to bedtime. Teach kids the importance of a good night’s sleep. Stress, such as too many daily after school activities, allergies, and viruses can affect how your child feels and how much sleep your child may need. Remember, if your child is not feeling well one of the best ways to recover is through sleep. Have your child go to bed half an hour earlier when stress or illness is present.
If you have a child who is a sibling (new to Manzano Day School) who will be applying for the 2019-2020 school year, we need your completed application and parent questionnaire along with the $80.00 application fee. If you want your child’s admission file to be in the “sibling preference pool” (please see your Family Handbook, page 33) you must have his/her admission paperwork, as stated in the Handbook, completed by Saturday, December 15. If you have questions, please stop by and see Madonna or Karroll, or call either one of us at 243-6659.
