Manzano Day School tested its automated phone tree and email notification system on Thursday, September 20. If you did not receive a phone call or email, or would like to change the contact information on file, please contact Karroll Candelaria-Bauer in the Admission Office at 505-243-6659 x402 or

Guess who is the best marketer that Manzano Day School has?  YOU ARE!
Yes, our current parents are our best referral source for new families and we want to ask for your help!

There are two ways to help, and neither require a huge time commitment.

1.) Please talk to your friends, family and co-workers about Manzano Day School. Bring up Manzano Day School to them, and tell them what you love about it. The vast majority of new families at our school each year come through referrals from our current parents.

2.)  We would like to make more of a personal connection with prospective families going through the admission process. We will ask our Parent Ambassadors to call 5 families during the course of the admission process to make a personal, parent to parent connection with them. It may not take more than about 20 minutes of your time to make these calls but it will have a huge impact on our school!

Please email Karroll in the admission office at
if you would like to participate in this new and exciting program.

Our current parents are our school's best cheerleaders and
we would love to have YOU as a Parent Ambassador!

The Manzano Day School Golf Tournament is ALMOST SOLD OUT!
We only have ONE foursome available!

We live very busy lives, and thus, we may be sleep deprived. A block of at least ten hours of uninterrupted sleep is KEY to good health for all of us, especially children.

School-age children need at least ten hours of sleep a night, and oftentimes more. Having good quality sleep significantly effects concentration, attention, behavior, ability to cope, and mood. Studies show that as many as 40% of children do not receive adequate sleep. Several studies report the more total sleep time your child gets, with earlier bedtimes and earlier week-day rise times, the better grades your child will likely receive in school. Even as few as 20 minutes can make a difference.

The best way to ensure that your child is getting enough sleep is to establish an appropriate bedtime for your child’s age and activity level. Establish bedtime routines (snack, brush teeth, read a book and lights out). Limit television, computer time, and video games prior to bedtime.  Teach kids the importance of a good night’s sleep.

Stress, such as too many daily after school activities, allergies, and viruses can affect how your child feels and how much sleep your child may need. Remember, if your child is not feeling well one of the best ways to recover is through sleep. Have your child go to bed half an hour earlier when stress or illness is present.

If you have a child who is a sibling (new to Manzano Day School) who will be applying for the 2019-2020 school year, we need your completed application and parent questionnaire along with the $80.00 application fee. If you want your child’s admission file to be in the “sibling preference pool” (please see your Family Handbook, page 33) you must have his/her admission paperwork, as stated in the Handbook, completed by Saturday, December 15.

If you have questions, please stop by and see Madonna or Karroll, or call either one of us at 243-6659.

Good Apple Singers -This is a singing group for fourth and fifth graders who wish to have extra performance experience. A variety of music is learned and performed, including upbeat, choreographed numbers. Two rehearsal times are open to students, but they need only attend one per week. Rehearsals are held on Mondays after school from 3:45 to 4:30 pm and  Wednesdays before school from 7:45 to 8:20 am.

The Good Apple Singers are asked to sing for events outside of school and have traditionally participated in the annual Old Town Tree Lighting, the first Friday of December. I will notify parents of all events in a timely fashion and you will have the opportunity to commit at that time.

There is no charge for Good Apple Singers. Please do notify Extended Day if your child usually goes there before or after school on a Good Apple Day.
