Guess who is the best marketer that Manzano Day School has?  YOU ARE!
Yes, our current parents are our best referral source for new families and we want to ask for your help!

There are two ways to help, and neither require a huge time commitment.

1.) Please talk to your friends, family and co-workers about Manzano Day School. Bring up Manzano Day School to them, and tell them what you love about it. The vast majority of new families at our school each year come through referrals from our current parents.

2.)  We would like to make more of a personal connection with prospective families going through the admission process. We will ask our Parent Ambassadors to call 5 families during the course of the admission process to make a personal, parent to parent connection with them. It may not take more than about 20 minutes of your time to make these calls but it will have a huge impact on our school!

Please email Karroll in the admission office at
if you would like to participate in this new and exciting program.

Our current parents are our school's best cheerleaders and
we would love to have YOU as a Parent Ambassador!

Michelle Key, 1st grade teacher, will not return to teach this school year due to an illness. Please join us in wishing Michelle a speedy recovery.

Karroll Candelaria-Bauer, Associate Director of Admissions, has accepted a position at UNM. We wish Karroll all the best in her future endavors.

The Sensations Workshops Program is available to all Manzano Day School students who would like to participate in some fun and exciting activities after school.

This program offers innovative, informative, and creative workshops that develop new interests, skills, and/or strengths. All Sensations Workshops take place in the safe environment of the Manzano Day School campus. Each Block of Sensations Workshops offers a variety of after school workshops to inspire and ignite creativity within each student.

Please take some time and check out our NEW Sensations Workshops!

Block II runs October 29 - December 21

4th & 5th Grade Bookworms Unite!

Manzano Day School’s Battle of the Books Team Will Meet

In the Library on Tuesdays at 7:45am starting Tuesday, October 30!

“Battle of the Books encourages the youth of New Mexico to read books, have fun, and compete by demonstrating their knowledge of books. Battle of the Books is a book-related competition for students in grades 4-8. Students are quizzed about books that they have read from the designated Battle of the Books reading list.” The NM Battle of the Books will take place April 27, 2019. For more info visit

or e-mail the team sponsors, Mrs. Laffler and Ms. Rachel We look forward to seeing you soon!

Do you have a fever (over 100 degrees), chills, and every inch of your body aches? Are you so tired you can’t even get out of bed? Chances are you have the flu and bed is where you should stay. There are some things you can do to help prevent getting the flu. First anyone 6 months of age or older should get a flu shot. On November 5th we will be offering flu shot to our student. Please refer to our e-mails and your child’s backpacks for details on the SKIIP Flu Clinic. You can also contact your local physician or a pharmacy such as Walgreens or the pharmacy in your local grocery stores. Some insurance companies will cover your co-pay if you go to a pharmacy. Nobody knows exactly when flu season starts but some cases will be reported in October with January and February being the peak time of the flu season.

If you believe you have the flu sometimes antiviral medicines can be administered. However, the best thing you can do is to stay home and get plenty of rest. Drink lots of fluids and eat healthy foods. The spread of the flu is similar to that of the cold, as it is transmitted from person to person through airborne particles. Cover your mouth whenever you cough or sneeze with your arm or a tissue and frequent hand washing will help prevent the spread of the flu. We hope you and your family have a healthy cold and flu season.

Last night a number of windows were broken by vandals on the Central Ave. side of the multi purpose building. The police have been informed and repairs have begun. This happened during the night and everyone is okay. The rocks used to break the windows will be turned into "Kindness Rocks" and added to the Kindness Rocks Garden.

If you have a child who is a sibling (new to Manzano Day School) who will be applying for the 2019-2020 school year, we need your completed application and parent questionnaire along with the $80.00 application fee. If you want your child’s admission file to be in the “sibling preference pool” (please see your Family Handbook, page 33) you must have his/her admission paperwork, as stated in the Handbook, completed by Saturday, December 15.

If you have questions, please stop by and see Madonna or Karroll, or call either one of us at 243-6659.

Good Apple Singers -This is a singing group for fourth and fifth graders who wish to have extra performance experience. A variety of music is learned and performed, including upbeat, choreographed numbers. Two rehearsal times are open to students, but they need only attend one per week. Rehearsals are held on Mondays after school from 3:45 to 4:30 pm and  Wednesdays before school from 7:45 to 8:20 am.

The Good Apple Singers are asked to sing for events outside of school and have traditionally participated in the annual Old Town Tree Lighting, the first Friday of December. I will notify parents of all events in a timely fashion and you will have the opportunity to commit at that time.

There is no charge for Good Apple Singers. Please do notify Extended Day if your child usually goes there before or after school on a Good Apple Day.
